Pipe in coils

ICL Group, Dead Sea Works

Israel | 1987

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Extremely highly corrosive and highly abrasive material. Exposure to constant direct sunlight. Challenging ambient temperature ranging from 6°C to 46°C (43°F to 115°F).

PEXGOL PIPES USED:  Pexgol 315 mm (12”) Class 15 (SDR 11)

APPLICATION:  Hot Crystallizer

The Challenge

At the Dead Sea Works facility, hot concentrated brine in the Sylvinite Crystallizer cycle reached 114°C/237°F. This highly corrosive brine corroded their piping system, leading to interrupted operations.

Working conditions were so extreme that the lifespan of the previous steel alloys piping was only eight to 12 months.

Pexgol's Piping Solution

Pexgol pipe has been in use at this potash processing plant for over 30 years. Their piping systems have experienced no failures or replacements. The pipe’s high resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and high-temperatures drastically reduced the changeover in the piping system. Pexgol was proven the best solution for this client.
